Trunkaroo Theme: Famous Artists
Our latest trunk is a must-have for budding artists and designers! This month we have taken inspiration from the great artists of history. We have included two artistic projects, alongside our 12-page educational magazine, which will encourage creative thinking and experimentation. With the Famous Artists Trunk, children will learn different art techniques and create masterpieces inspired by Picasso, Kandinsky and Matisse! Everything you need to create each project, from materials to illustrated directions, is included in trunk. Feast your eyes upon these wonderfully artistic projects with an inventive STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) twist:
Project 1: Puffy Art on Glass
Artists have been painting on glass windows since the Roman Times and now your mini maker can create their own exquisite stained glass! Use our templates to design your window picture using special puffy paint. Once your creations are dry you can peel them off them off the plastic bags and they will stick easily onto any window without needing glue! Voila! Little hands can experiment with arranging the window clings into a collage like the amazing Henry Matisse. This project is excellent for the development of both fine and gross motor skills, along with imagination.
Project 2: Abstract Art
This cool project teaches art techniques used by renowned abstract artists Jackson Pollock and Piet Mondrian. The trunk contains everything curious kids will need to design and create their own abstract masterpieces! Tinkers can employ their fine motor skills to stick washi tape onto a canvas board and then the exposed sections. When the paint is dry the washi tape is removed to reveal a Mondrian-inspired work of art! For the Pollock-inpired Upcycle Challenge use the Trunkaroo box as a painting tray. Line the bottom with white paper; then dip the wooden beads into paint before dropping them into the box and shaking! The beads will roll around to leave an awesome abstract pattern.
As well as hands-on projects our kid’s craft boxes also come with an interactive art and STEM magazine. Discoveroo is brimming with engaging, educational content designed especially to support creative and intellectual development. Here a few of the art techniques, doodles and activities inside the Famous Artists issue:
